Being a squirrel must be pretty exhausting – all the hopping, the scampering, the endless hunt for nuts.
But the fluffy-tailed visitors in Sharon Cutler’s backyard now have a cozy new place to rest their paws.
Cutler is a landscape photographer from England. A while ago, she made a small, handmade wooden bed to serve as an accessory in some photos of her daughter’s guinea pig.
Recently, however, she decided to remake the bed, complete with small sheets, and place it in his garden to see if any squirrels there might enjoy it too.
She soon got her answer.
As Cutler watched with the camera in hand, the little bed received its first visitor: a curious squirrel whom she named Cyril.
Apparently, the little one needed a nap. And Cutler’s creation seemed like the perfect place for it.
“Cyril the squirrel was so tired from a busy day in the garden,” Cutler wrote. “So it was time to say her prayers, pad her pillow, lift her duvet, and jump into bed.”
The squirrel, in the end, did not linger long; She apparently had more chores to do that day, and was able to fight the urge to take a nap. But the photos of her visit to the little bed are still precious regardless.
