21-year-old Hubert and Kalisa’s had some health problems because of age-related illnesses. This had some effect on how they live.Because of this, the zoo had to come up with a decision. In order to save the other from facing the loss of its mate, the zoo decided to end their suffering together. So they may be together eternally in the heavens.

Six years ago this inseperable couple came to the zoo.Ever since the time of their arrival they were the star of the zoo. Just their presence filled the entire place with happiness and positivity. Both of them became a source of feeling of love for the entire staff.

According to the director of the zoo, Kalisa was always near Hubert as they always stick together. Their love and bond they formed were special and saying goodbye to them is heart-wrenching.

It is very sad that both of them are no longer with us. The only thing that is calming is that they left together and they will be together forever.

Lions have an average life expectancy of 17 years. This couple’s time had come. They first met in 2014 at the Woodland Park Zoo. Ever since then they have been together. Their cuddles and nuzzles showed the power of their love.

This decision was the most difficult but it was the best for both of them. Living without the other would have been torture for them.

We hope that both are together and happy and will live eternally!
