A devoted dog has refused to leave the place where its owner died in a car accident. The locals have tried to push the dog off the road while others have tried to adopt him, but he always returns to the same place.
Nafpaktia News reported that the dog’s owner was killed by a cement mixer in a Greek town on a remote highway. Since then, the dog has remained at the scene of the accident. He only walks away to find shade.
The town’s people have built him a small shelter and regularly give him food and water.
They are comparing the dog to Hachiko, the devout Japanese Akita who visited Tokyo’s Shibuya Station for years after his owner’s death, waiting for him to return.
Although the locals are caring for the dog, people will express dismay at the dangerous living conditions of this dog, commenting that leaving the dog on the side of the road is dangerous and suggesting that the dog be rescued and relocated.
Others speculated that it appears that the accident scene was never properly cleaned up and that if the debris were completely removed, perhaps the dog would not smell or associate the area with its owner.
We hope someone will try again to help rescue this dog and find him a new family, one that will help him get over his pain but also give him a comfortable life.
