Recovering from an injury isn’t always tackless and easy, and neither are the injuries or scars they leave behind. A bad fall may force you to stay home for a while, but some face the misfortune of never being able to walk again.
This dog can walk just fine, but an aggressive altercation with another dog left its mark on his face.
Woody, which is this pupper’s name, suffered the injury when he was still a puppy.
Since the bones in puppies’ skulls aren’t permanently fused and developed yet, his skull healed but a little deformed. This left him with a crooked, nonproptional face.
It looks a lot worse than it actually is, though. Woody can breathe, pant, eat and drink normally. He just looks a bit funny.
In fact, his crooked face is pretty adorable.
Even more cute is Woody himself, who’s proven to be incredibly friendly and loving according to his caretakers. He had the energetic nature of a puppy, even though he was nearly a year old. Not even his permanently deformed face could not spoil his happiness.
As adorable as his face is, there were unfortunately a few people who didn’t see the true beauty. His original owners in Tennessee dumped him after moving out of their house.
Woody was all alone and chained up.
It’s hard to say if his crooked face was part of the reason his owners abandoned him, but it’s cruel either way.
He must have been fed scraps and leftovers by the people there, since he wasn’t tiny or starving when he was found. And who was it that found him? Its kind people of Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR).
Eventually one of the locals thought of calling a rescue organization for Woody, and it did pay off.
Courtney Bellew, a worker for SNARR, shared details about Woody and his rescue. Primarily about how emotional his story was, and why he stood out. This pup was full of love from day 1, and Courtney immediately noticed it.
“It’s just that you look at him, and you can’t help but love him because of that face.” – said Courtney Bellew when interviewed by The Dodo
The household Woody came from didn’t seem to have trained him, in addition to the fact that they didn’t take him to the vet either. Courtney shared that Woody was pretty unruly, even if he meant well.
The one-of-a-kind Pitbull was a little too energetic, and it proved a bit of a handful for them.
But he did eventually learn some etiquette.
“With just five days in foster care, he’s calmed down so much, and he’s doing really well because he’s getting everything that he needs. He’s a sweet boy, and he’s very happy to be able to run around and be in a house and everything else.” – Courtney Bellew said
And when he eventually found a foster home, his playful personality was just as intoxicating. He was already always worried about his new mom. His new mom, Jamie Bond, caught a bad fever during his first few days with her.
Woody was worried sick and was near her side the whole time.
“He knew something wasn’t right and never left my side. He snuggled with me on the couch all afternoon. Now he’s my shadow, always following wherever I go, making sure I’m safe and sound. Woody loves to curl up on the bed and put his head on my chest.” – Jamie Bond said when she spoke to The Dodo
Woody is an amazing example of why you shouldn’t judge based on looks. That, and you aren’t any less kind no matter how different you might look.
Some of the people who look the most different can often be the kindest and brightest.
This crooked-faced doggy seems to really know how to make people’s day brighter, so why not share this article to more people can see him?
