Australian Veterinary Clinic Rescued A Rare Golden Possum That Looks Like Pikachu

A veterinary clinic in eastern Melbourne, Australia, rescued a small possum. The creature looks exactly the same as Pikachu, because of the color of its skin and its large ears.

Stephen Reinisch, the veterinarian who has been taking care of the 5-months-old possum, explained that the creature has a genetic mutation, and its low melanin levels cause its coat color.

Although it has been explained that the little one was found orphaned, it is not yet determined if there are more of its species with these characteristics. Additionally, she was given a wildlife caretaker because it is not advisable to release her into the wild, her rare color makes her a target of predators

One of the problems with unusual colors, and particularly if they are pale, is that they are obvious to predators like owls,

Scientists were aware of the existence of this species, although they had never rescued one before and their finding has become very popular in social networks because its similarity with the popular Pokemon species.
