The previous K9 pet named Axel quit following five years’ service with Central Falls Police Department. Central Falls Police Department. Although he had stopped working to ensure the security of the people in Central Falls, he was still a highly respected dog within the department. The police were unfortunate when he passed away.
When the dog was working with police officers at the department, he was so good at his job that he retired after the regular retirement age for K9 officers. “because he just had the will to keep going,” according to a post on Friends of Central Falls Animals. “He performed a fantastic job of keeping the streets safe, and he always made sure our cops were safe, no matter how dangerous the situation was. He would have given his life without hesitation to save the life of a fellow cop, particularly his companion, Officer Decristoforo.”
Officer Decristoforo’s first K9 dog was Axel. When the K9 was transferred to another city with a new partner after a few years, people wondered if the canine would be comfortable traveling to a new city with a new partner, but he and the officer hit it off right away. When the dog died, the officer Decristoforo felt as if he had lost his other half and was distraught. “They were incredibly fortunate to have each other in life, and Axel will continue be watching over him,” the message said.
The Facebook post also contained a note for Officer Decristoforo, saying, “Axel loved you more than he loved himself!” That’s exactly the kind of dog he was. He was all yours! He would have gone to any length for you. He needs you to help him right now! Keep your cool and remember that he doesn’t want to see you unhappy! The article closed by thanking this canine for his excellent work, saying, “Axel, I want to thank you for watching over us as you have!” It was an honor and a privilege to get to know you and work with you. You will be my favorite retired cop for the rest of my life.” We’re also thankful for the sweet dog and everything he did.
